Describe a kind of food that people eat during a special event.
You should say
What it is
What it tastes
When people eat it
And explain how you feel about it
Thanksgiving day
Dragon-boat festival
把硬币包到饺子馅里 put a coin into the dumpling fillings
好运 good fortune
Red bean paste:
Lotus paste
Custard
Salted duck egg yolk
Pork mooncakes
Ice cream mooncakes
五仁Five nuts
Ray
Speaking of a special food that I eat during a special event. From my memory, of all Chinese delicacies that people eat during all festivals, such as mooncakes, dumplings, hotpots, sticky rice bowls, I believe that the longevity noodle made by my grandmother is the most special one that I eat. I have been eating it since I was a little kid, because my grandmother makes longevity noodle only for me during Chinese spring festival. When making noodles , the Cantonese use bamboos while those who live in central place applying a rolling pole . so making noodle is a skill that girls living in central place must master. My grandmother lives in another city - Wuhan, so I only get to see her when we are celebrating Chinese Spring Festival . It tastes just like normal noodle with soup, however, it takes more time and effort to prepare compared with other sort of noodles. Being the only child of my grandmother, I was very spoiled by her actually, because I am the only one who she makes longevity noodles for. When making it ,she has to pound, moisturize and pull the dough repeatedly and carefully just to make sure that the noodle doesn’t break in the middle. In China, a lot of people eat longevity noodle on their birthdays and in Chinese spring festivals. However, just like I said, I only eat it during Chinese spring festival because there is a long distance between my home and my grandparents’ home. So it definitely conveys greetings and wishes from my grandmother for me. That’s why I think this is the great symbol for family reunion and that’s why longevity noodle is the special food that I eat during special events.
